“Greetings citizens of the United States.

WE ARE ANONYMOUS.

Thursday April 26th, the United States House, in a rushed vote, passed HR 3523, also known as CISPA, the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act.

It allows the United States to collect information about users of the Internet.  It allows the United States to monitor all activity on the Net, and can be used to monitor any individual’s Internet Usage.

This monitoring is called “Deep Packet Inspection”.  It looks through everything that is going in and out of your computer, which is a blatant violation of our Rights to Privacy.

Looking through your mail is a CRIME for a Postman, these rules should apply to the Internet, too.

The bill’s intent is to help stop “Cyber Attacks”, however the main wording of the bill could allow the Government to use this new power to go behind Privacy Protection and monitor, censor and cut off online communication.

President Obama has already said that he will veto the bill, however this is also what was said about NDAA.

Together we can stop this act.

The time to TAKE ACTION action is NOW.

We have defeated previous attempts to censor our only platform of true, honest communication: the Internet.

SOPA was only the beginning.

Sign Petitions, Call your Congressmen, and KILL this act in the Senate.

WE ARE ANONYMOUS.

WE ARE LEGION.

WE DO NOT FORGIVE.

WE DO NOT FORGET.

CISPA.

EXPECT US.”

“I don’t agree with a word you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” ~ Voltaire

I agree, with Voltaire, Bill Maher and Cenk Uygur of TheYoungTurks.com on this!

If we start to further pick apart what is appropriate language and intent on Talk Radio, we will only further weaken the already greatly compromised definition of American “Free Speech”…

f="http://leftish.tumblr.com/post/16380361958/whoa-do-i-detect-a-form-of-censorship-on-tumblr">Whoa! Do I detect a form of “censorship” on Tumblr?

I don’t know if you use keywords when you post, but I noticed this thing today.  Usually, Tumblr will “supply” likely choices, and show my previous keywords that start with the same letters as the word I am currently entering in.

And it has a “learning curve”…if you typed a Keyword in earlier in the day, it will now “remember” it, and offer it up as a possibility the very next time you enter the beginning few letters of that “new” word.

Not so with the word “OCCUPY”.  I frequently use that word as a Keyword, however, no matter how many times I use it, and then try to use it in a new post again, it will never supply the full word…usually if I type in the first three letters “OCC”, Tumblr would automatically suggest any words I’ve used recently with the same first three letters.

I have heard previously that the hash tag #occupy is being censored, but this is a new type of “censorship”.

I’d be curious to have someone else try this and see if it happens for you, too…

Students Protesting Book Ban Can Clean Toilets In Tucson, Arizona

The Tucson Unified School District suspended the Mexican American Studies department and banned books (they don’t accept the term “ban”, claiming they are simply “confiscating” books) leading to a student protest march. Students participating will be punished with “janitorial duties”. Ana Kasparian and Cenk Uygur discuss on The Young Turks.

Transcript:

We’ve received a takedown notice on YouTube.

They’ve pulled your covers of

Katy Perry and Justin Bieber.

Universal claims that YouTube removals

aren’t covered by any law.

They have an agreement with Google allowing

them to remove any video without a reason.

That’s fine, they’re still up on my Lady GaGa fan site.

My Führer…

SOPA…

SOPA will likely pass and become law.

Universal could take down the site as well.

Everyone from

China, Syria, Iran… get out.

How could this even be up for a vote!?

Why isn’t this on every front page of a newspaper!?

First the U.S. Supreme Court

says corporations are people.

Now corporations can censor people…

George Orwell is rolling over in his grave!

It’s been almost two decades.

The MPAA/RIAA still haven’t figured out the Internet.

Piracy is a service problem.

The way to defeat piracy is to

provide a better service than the pirates.

Not take a shit on the First Amendment!

My Führer, content creators have been

losing billions to piracy ever since the VCR.

You don’t get to destroy the Internet

because it doesn’t fit your business model!

My Führer, they’re only going

after rogue offshore sites.

Then why is the language so vague

that anything could be copyright infringement?

Even Wikipedia would be infringing.

All that it takes is a link in the user comments

of your blog to something Viacom thinks they own

…and the whole site can get taken down

without anyone even checking if it’s actually infringing.

How am I supposed to whine about a PSN outage

when Sony claims that mentioning their trademark is illegal!?

The only way you could contest one of these gangster seizures

is by going to court after you’ve already been shut down.

Is that what the Internet has come to?

I refuse to be shaken down for protection money

just to keep my domain safe from the copyright cartel.

The economy is in the toilet…

Congress wants to cripple the only medium

that’s consistently creating jobs and growth.

It all comes down to money.

You need a thousand people pissed off

just to balance out one dollar that a politician raises.

How are a bunch of old people,

most of whom don’t even use the Internet, regulating it!?

You could get five years in jail

just for linking to a clip of Colbert.

I don’t see congressmen going to jail

for voting on something they haven’t read.

For accepting money to let

companies dictate legislation!

Don’t cry,

Disney owns the rights to that emotion.

Imagine this happened 15 years ago.

There’d be no Google, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter.

No memes….

The Internet is lost.

It was supposed to be a vast network of

infinite human knowledge, expression, and creativity.

Now it’s censored to catch pirates,

who will get around it anyway.

I don’t want to live on this planet anymore.

VIDEO: “THE INTERNET IS A SERIES OF TUBES.”

Senator Ted Stevens talking about the Net Neutrality Bill - ha ha ha

Claiming he didn’t get an email for several days because the Internet was busy delivering other stuff.

“The internet is not something that you just dump something on, it’s not a big truck, it’s a series of tubes!  And if you don’t understand, those tubes can be filled, and if they’re filled when you put your message in, it gets in line, it’s gonna be delayed by anyone who puts into that tube, enormous amounts of material.”

WEDNESDAY: Wikipedia Blackout: Websites Wikipedia, Reddit, Others Go Dark Wednesday to Protest SOPA, PIPA

Do not try to look up “Internet Censorship” or “SOPA” or “PIPA” on Wikipedia, the giant online encyclopedia, on Wednesday. SOPA and PIPA are two bills in Congress meant to stop the illegal copying and sharing of movies and music on the Internet, but major Internet companies say the bills would put them in the impossible position of policing the online world.

Wikipedia’s founder, Jimmy Wales, says his site will go dark for the day on Wednesday, joining a budding movement to protest the two bills.

“This is going to be wow,” Wales said on Twitter. “I hope Wikipedia will melt phone systems in Washington on Wednesday. Tell everyone you know!”

Several sources said members of Congress, reacting to the online objections, were pulling back on parts of SOPA and PIPA to which Internet companies object. But the protest movement continued for the time being.

Other sites, such as Reddit and Boing Boing, have already said they would go dark on Wednesday. And some of the biggest names online, including Google, Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr, have vocally opposed the proposed legislation, though they have not said they are joining the online blackout.
