DNC is MIA in Wisconsin

The Republican National Committee has said it’ll kick in whatever it takes to keep Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker in office.

But Democrats in Washington won’t commit to spending big, even though their candidate has been out raised 25-to-1 so far. And in Wisconsin, that’s left the local activists fuming.

I found this comment by Jeff, in a thread on MoveOn.org about a video of WI Gov. Scott Walker interspersed with comedian George Carlin (R.I.P. you brilliant man).  The video shows Carlin uttering prescient remarks on dividing and conquering 30 years prior to Scott Walker coming to power in Wisconsin.

The comments were mostly pro-Carlin, however, there were a few Right-Wingers trolling and commenting.  Here’s Jeff’s response to one of them:

Jeff

I think what the GOP wants is a country full of docile workers who do what they’re told.

I think the GOP want to bring back the gilded age where workers worked 7 days a week, 16 hours a day for 30 cents an hour.

I think the GOP wants to bring back sweatshops and put children to work in them.

I think the GOP wants to gut all social services and return this country to a day when it was everyone for themselves.

I think the GOP wants to end taxes for the rich entirely and shift the burden of taxation to the ‘little people”

I think the GOP wants to restrict voting to only the top .01 percent of wealthy corporate owners and give the common man NO SAY in the governing of this country.

I think the GOP wants to gut every existing environmental regulation so that they can be free to pollute our air and out water all in the name of profit.

I think the GOP wants to end social security and medicare so the old will die quickly and not need to have any retirement benefits

In short, I believe that the GOP wants to make this an Oligarchic government run by the rich and powerful. I know what Communism is and what the Republicans want is even WORSE!!!

What the GOP wants is a TOTALITARIAN DICTATORSHIP!!!

This is what I think AJ, and NO LIE you can come up with is going to convince me otherwise.  I HAVE EYES TO SEE what direction YOU & THOSE LIKE YOU wish to turn this country. I just hope I don’t live long enough to see you and yours succeed.

When common people ally themselves with the GOP you don’t realize that your making a bargain with THIEVES!!!

Why don’t you realize that they’re not going to make you rich like they are. They’re not going to make you part of their exclusive little club.

They’re going to use you and Captain Russ and Harrison Leventhal and oldogboy and Russ_en_GA to get what they want.

Once they’ve sucked us dry, they’re coming after YOU TOO!!!

WOOT!  This is awesome - MSNBC Host, Tamron Hall puts Tim Carney, GOP robot, in his place, when he tries to bypass her question.

I don’t usually watch Tamron’s show, but I happened to have it on yesterday…and when she said this, I actually cheered out loud (alone, in my living room) as she ripped MSNBC Conservative contributor (and completely predictable GOP mouthpiece and dork), Tim Carney.

I hope they get rid of him.  He brings nothing to the table and does not represent the Republican viewpoint very well.  If they have to give someone on the Right a voice, I don’t mind Megan McCain, or Susan Del Percio, but I just click mute when I see that MSNBC has served up Carney as the token Republican of the moment.

f="http://leftish.tumblr.com/post/22850030775/hold-on-mitt-romney-doesnt-recall-having-chopped">HOLD ON! Mitt Romney “doesn’t recall” having chopped off a fellow student’s hair in Prep School while his buddies held the helpless student down?

Could it be that this kind of behavior was so frequent and commonplace for the Prep School Bully, Mitt, that he doesn’t remember that PARTICULAR episode because all the bullying episodes of his past blend together?

I don’t know, if it were me, it would be a moment that would be etched in my memory as one of the most shameful things I’d ever done.

Could it be that Romney’s list of injustices is SO long, that this one incident (that permanently scarred his victim for life) was too insignificant for him to even RECALL?

WHY ANN STAYED HOME
Ann Romney was already fully immersed in stay-at-home motherhood — raising five sons, ages six to 16, in her Belmont home — when Mormon prophet Ezra Taft Benson took to a pulpit on February 22, 1987 and delivered a definitive sermon on gender roles in the church titled, “To the Mothers of Zion.” His message to working moms: “Come home.” (via Why Ann Stayed Home)

PA voter ID law may backfire on GOP as only 4000 out of 61,000 eligible Amish voters have applied for a non-Photo Voter ID.

To get a nonphoto ID for religious reasons, applicants must answer a series of 18 questions that delve deeply into their faiths and other personal information.

Now that Pennsylvania has passed one of the nation’s toughest voter ID laws to prevent voter fraud, the scope of the questions is drawing criticism.

The first item on PennDOT’s form asks applicants to “describe your religion.” It is followed by more questions that devout followers might struggle to answer, and some that inquire about the lives of family members.

How many members are there of your religion?

How many congregations?

What’s the process by which you came to the religion?

What religious practices do you observe?

Do other family members hold the same religious beliefs?

Submitting that form, once notarized, is not enough. Applicants must fill out another form.

If they lack proof of identification, yet another form must be completed before a nonphoto ID is issued. The ID is valid for four years, and the renewal process is simpler.

Because there IS a substantive debate that we need to have about maybe changing the U.S.’ status as the ONLY developed country in the world to not have paid Parental Leave, or having Workplace Flexibility, or expanding Childcare Tax Credits.  I mean, those are REAL debates…THIS has been ridiculous!”
