I learned on Democracy Now that it costs NYC $36,000 per year to house a Homeless Person in a shelter…OR, the City could just give each Homeless Person a $10,000 Rental Subsidy instead…but no, NYC won’t do THAT!
This is one more statistic proving that our society has GONE WRONG. WAY WRONG.

As the New York City Police Department raided the Occupy Wall Street encampment at Zuccotti Park in the early hours of Tuesday morning, protestors scattered and reassembled, undeterred at what they saw as a violation of their First Amendment rights. Many have reassembled at the city’s Foley Square, and others have marched through the city.

70+ Occupiers have been arrested.
Occupy Lawyers just procured a Temporary Restraining Order against the City of New York and Brookfield Properties directing that Occupiers be allowed back on the premises with their belongings.
NYC is saying it will allow protesters to return to the park, but without sleeping bags or tents.
Cops raided and gutted OccupyWallStreet at Zuccotti Park at 1 am this morning.
They destroyed personal property, and are refusing to let the tents and “personal property” back into the park.

Mention that you are part of the 99%, and that you know that the Federal Government is behind the nationwide crackdowns on the Occupy Movements, and that you DEMAND that the White House PROTECT THE TAX PAYER’S RIGHT TO ASSEMBLE!
You might also mention that the Constitution does NOT MENTION that our Rights can be suspended due to Camping, Curfews or Cleanliness.

IRAQ VET, SGT SHAMAR THOMAS GETS PISSED, GOES OFF ON NYPD FOR BEATING UP UNARMED CITIZENS!
BRILLIANT!! THIS IS WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE! The cops looked on in silence, and seemed to actually be HEARING Sgt Thomas’ words! Amazing!

United States Marine Corps. Sgt. Shamar Thomas from Roosevelt, NY went toe to toe with the New York Police Department. An activist in the Occupy Wall Street movement, Thomas voiced his opinions of the NYPD police brutality that had and has been plaguing the #OWS movement.
Thomas is a Marine Veteran (2 tours in Iraq), he currently plays amateur football and is in college.
Thomas comes from a long line of people who sacrifice for their country: Mother, Army Veteran (Iraq), Step father, Army, active duty (Afghanistan), Grand father, Air Force veteran (Vietnam), Great Grand Father Navy veteran (World War II).
