and becomes pregnant, is it “God’s Will”?
Richard Mourdock, a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate recently claimed that raped women should be forced to carry their rapist’s baby to term because their pregnancy — a result of rape — is a “gift from God.”
Okay, well then, if “Rape” is such a “gift”, then according to their logic, it must be “God’s Will”, right?
Here’s my question, “Then isn’t being born Gay, also “God’s Will?”
Have you ever noticed this?
How could this Christian God be “wrong” about Gay People? One can find homosexuals in every religion on Earth.
What do homophobes think about this? If there are NO ACCIDENTS, and whatever happens is GOD’S WILL, and their God is PERFECT, and ALL-POWERFUL, and NEVER MAKES A MISTAKE, well, then how do they square these Gay Babies being born with the rest of their beliefs?
If you follow my logic, it would mean that God is completely aware that homosexuals are being born, and guess what? God isn’t stopping it, any more than God is stopping those rapes which are now being called “Gifts from God”!
And one other thing…have you heard about this guy who wants to round up all the Gay and Transgender people and make them live together in one area? Like that would stop any future gay people from being born? Like as if only gay people give birth to other gay people? REALITY CHECK: Straight people conceive Gay People ALL THE FUCKING TIME…so GET OVER IT!
This kind of thinking, that laws can stop Gay People from being born, is as dumb as thinking that outlawing abortions will actually STOP PEOPLE FROM GETTING THEM! NO! It will just create (or bring back) a lucrative business: Black Market Abortions!
These haters and anti-choice folks are just so colossally ignorant!
I wish there was a pill that could make people smarter, because it’s hard to combat ignorance with logic!
SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE???
One’s religious beliefs should have nothing to do with governing!! Am I WRONG?
Biden should have stated more strongly that his religion has absolutely nothing to do with governing. It would have been really awesome if he had quoted the 1797 Treaty of Tripoli:
[“The Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion” That is the lead line of Article 11 in the Treaty of Tripoli, unanimously approved by the US Senate and signed by President John Adams on June 7, 1797.]
THERE ARE 317 RELIGIONS PRACTICED IN THESE UNITED STATES!!
And there are MORE ATHEISTS in this country than African Americans!
Why did Martha even ask this question? I hate the way our Politicians feel this need to prove that they are pious and religious! Frankly, I don’t care whether my elected officials practice a religion or not. That’s not why I voted for them. Their job should not be mixed up with their religious beliefs! I don’t see why we have religious symbols on our money, or why we say “Under God” in the pledge, or why every politician always ends every speech with, “God Bless Ya, and God Bless the United States of America”. All these things bother me.
Nonetheless, Joe’s answer embraced the basic concept, that Government shouldn’t meddle in a woman’s private affairs, I just wish he would have emphasized more strongly how this concept, of SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE is embedded in our very Constitution.
And speaking of abortion, do they really believe that outlawing abortions will STOP people from having or performing them? NO!! Abortions will just be returned to the black market, and be performed by unlicensed doctors in unsterile and dangerous conditions!
And also, I have to ask, how do these Republicans justify their meddling stance on women’s privacy with their supposed commitment to “Small Government”??
[“Republicans want to shrink government so small that it can fit inside of a woman’s uterus." - Dorothy Kegley, rephrased by Rachel Maddow]
