Anonymous: Obama is in the 1%. and Goldman Sachs is his and Romney's top campaign contributors.

Yes, that is all true.  Goldman Sachs was Obama’s biggest contributor in 2008.  However, THIS election cycle the banks have donated I think it is 10 times as much to Republicans as to Obama.

Obama is not my perfect candidate, nor my perfect President.  He has failed to meet many of his campaign promises, he has decimated Free Speech, betrayed Whistleblowers, killed numerous innocent people with drones, escalated the war in Afghanistan, has condoned harsh treatment of innocent Occupiers, wants to censor the Internet, has gone back on his word regarding Pot Clubs, and MANY, MANY MORE things I DON’T LIKE at ALL!

And yet, compared to the alternative he is a fucking SAINT!

Do I wish there was a third, VIABLE choice, who had a CHANCE to win?  YES!  Do I expect that to happen in 2012.  ABSOLUTELY NOT!  I’m curious to see who will get the  candidacy on the Green Ticket and the Libertarian Ticket, but I won’t vote for a Third Party unless one of two things are in place - either Obama can’t lose in my state (CA), so I can afford to throw my vote away and “vote my conscience”…or there is a TIDAL WAVE of support for a Third Party Candidate, and I have real confidence that the Third Party Candidate will actually win.

There are several interesting people running for that third party slot:

1) Gary Johnson (sane Republican, and two time Governor of New Mexico) who is committed to legalizing Marijuana, and ending the war on drugs.

2) Buddy Roemer (another fairly sane Republican who is running on one issue only - Reforming campaign finance legislation, and is currently running to be picked as the Presidential Candidate for the Americans Elect and Reform Party.

3) "Rocky" Anderson - officially declared the American’s Elect candidate.  If I thought that Rocky had a shot, I would definitely consider voting for him.  He has ALL the right stances, and is a serious contender for the Liberal vote.  He served two terms as the 33rd mayor of Salt Lake City, Utah, between 2000 and 2008. I would definitely suggest you go to his web site and view the Interviews he has had with the likes of Amy Goodman (need I say more?), The Young Turks, Dylan Ratigan, Al Jazeera and RT…You get the idea…Rocky is the REAL DEAL!!  What are his chances?  We shall wait and see.

4) And Roseanne Barr.  I love this woman.  She, too, has all the right stances, and she also has name recognition…however I just can’t see networks that host debates like CNN ever inviting her to partake of any of the Presidential Debates.

Roseanne has two different web sites:

roseanne barr 2012 | livefreeordiealliance.org

She announced in February that she is running for the Green Party Presidential Nomnation.

Will any of these candidates have a shot?  I don’t know, we shall see.

But, knowing how things go in this country, I will most likely just hold my nose and vote for Obama, and HOPE that the citizens will continue to convene and demand redress, and come together and totally change our governing system, and hope that we will be able to have a completely new system of Government in place before 2016 or 2020 or 2024 (It took Women Suffragettes 80 YEARS to get their legislation passed…so it may take a while to do a complete overhaul of how we govern, but that’s what I’m hoping for).

In the meantime, I half-heartedly will cast my vote for “the lesser of two evils”…it is not a “HOPEful” vote like I falsely allowed myself to have in 2008…it is a “preventative vote” - as usual….to keep GOP Nutjobs out of office…not the kind of election where I am hoping, or expect to get good things accomplished…more the kind of vote where I am hoping to keep BAD things from happening.

But, regarding elections in general, I’ve got news for you…with this current system of government, any candidate HAS to be a millionaire “in the 1%” to even be able to afford to truck with the other guys in the race.

But, Obama is not of the same ilk as the 1% who own the corporations which are killing our world.  The people who PAY OFF and CONTROL the politicians are the real problem, in my opinion. The people who own the corporations which pollute our world, and arm our world, and destroy our resources, and refuse to do anything but destroy everything in their way in order to make money…THOSE are the people I worry about.

I can hope that, if elected, Obama’s second term will be more to our liking…but truthfully, I doubt it will be much better than his first.

You have to be pretty twisted to even want to run for office.
